Our creative employment program where artists with disabilities collaborate with community volunteers to create imaginative jewelry and accessories out of mostly recycled materials. Artists are paid minimum wage regardless of level of ability. CATA offers this program at no charge so funding is essential.
Annual Performance Total amount needed $30,000
CATA’s largest fundraiser and most important vehicle for sharing the work and the mission with the community at large. Minimum pledge $1,500.
I Am A Part of Art Total amount needed $2,000
Our annual poetry reading and art exhibition featuring guest readers and nearly 100 framed works of art created in year-long workshops. Artists receive 50% commission on artwork sold.
CATAtransitions Total amount needed $10,000
CATA provides teenagers and young adults with disabilities with the skills, motivation, and support necessary to access artistic and cultural resources in their communities, including CATA workshops.
Programs
Arts In & Arts Out (core program featuring workshops in drawing, painting, collage, sculpture, woodworking, set & costume design, singing, drumming, dancing, juggling, acting, poetry and yoga). The Art Cart (a CATA faculty artist shares song and story along with items from a colorful mobile lending library of framed artwork with residents of Berkshire County nursing homes). $110 per workshop.
Annual Appeal
Unrestricted funds are the most important for organizational and operational support. CATA staff and faculty ARE the work.
CATA Art on Tour Total amount needed $14,000
Framed artwork from CATA’s many visual arts workshops is available to area museums, galleries and community spaces. This touring art show furthers CATA’s mission to notice, nurture and celebrate the creativity of people with disabilities. The more funding available, the more artwork can be framed, exhibited and sold. Artists receive a 50% commission on artwork sold. $750 sponsors one show.
Commission New Work Total amount needed $10,000
Commission a CATA performing arts faculty member to create a new work for our participants with disabilities to perform at the annual show in May. Cost $2,500 for one artist to teach 16 workshops and production/administrative expenses.
Digital Photography Residency Total amount needed $7,000
A collaborative project between several organizations to produce a week-long program introducing participants with disabilities to digital photography. Daily morning workshops in composition, editing, printing and exhibiting are supplemented by complementary afternoon programs all culminating in a public exhibit.
A.R.T. Workshops Total amount needed $10,000
Sponsor a series of workshops using Artistic Realization Technologies (A.R.T.), a unique method in which people with severe physical disabilities can create paintings with the help of a head-mounted laser pointer and a specially trained individual tracker. Funding needed to match a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. Cost $110 per workshop.
Endowment Initiative Total amount needed to start an account $25,000
A long term strategy for financial stability allowing CATA to focus on fulfilling its mission.
New Computers Total amount needed $4,000
Mac Book Pros for Development & Program Associate and Assistant Program Director.
CATA Film Trailer Total amount needed $7,500
Sponsor the making of a two minute trailer about CATA to be shown at the Triplex and other local cinemas to increase awareness of CATA and its mission and promote CATA events such as the annual performance and art show.
